10 migrants found smuggled in truck at Brabant parking area

Ten undocumented migrants were found hidden in a parked truck in Schaijk, Noord-Brabant on Monday morning. Among them were seven men, two women, and a teenaged child. The migrants were found while the truck driver was sleeping after he had pulled over in a parking lot. Another truck driver saw the truck moving in a strange way and heard unusual noises, police said. He alerted police who responded to the Gagel parking lot off the A50 at about 9:30 a.m. The truck driver, from Germany, was arrested when police found the migrants. The case was turned over to the department that handles undocumented alien investigations. They will determine if the driver played any role in smuggling the migrants. The truck entered the Netherlands from the direction of Calais, France. Those found in the truck were believed to be from Eastern Africa. Mental health services examined the ten, and approved their transfer to an area police station for interviews.
