New Year’s lottery winner died two weeks before lucky day
A man from Almelo lucky enough to win 666 thousand euros in the New Year's lottery, turned out not to be so lucky after all. He passed away two weeks before the draw, a spokesperson for the lottery confirmed to Tubantia.
The prize money will still be paid to the bank account from which the two winning tickets were paid. The organization will contact the person managing the man's estate, according to the newspaper.
This is the third time the Postcode Street Prize ended up in Elmelo; previous times were in December 2013 and August 2014. The money is paid out to all winning ticket holders living in a specific four-digit postcode, with those living on a specific block collecting a larger proportion.
