Benefit raises €15,000 for Dutch Jazz Archive

The Dutch Jazz Archive raised 15 thousand euros during its annual benefit concert on Sunday night, director Paul Gompes announced to news wire ANP on Monday. "This is an excellent result and a real boost for our organization", Gompes said to the news wire. The annual benefit concert is one of the ways the Dutch Jazz Archive uses to fund itself since subsidies were eliminated in 2012. This was the fourth edition of the concert On Sunday night many Dutch jazz musicians, including Denise Jannah, Konrad Koselleck Big Band, Eric Vloeimans, Jeroen van Vliet, Calefax Rietkwintet, Tony Overwater, Wim Kegel, Gideon Tazelaar Trio and Bruut, performed in the Bimhuis in Amsterdam on a pro-bono basis. The Dutch Jazz Archive was founded in 1980. It manages material covering three decades of Dutch jazz history. This includes not only 22 thousand LP's and 2,500 CD's, but also thousands of photographs, books, posters, songbooks and magazines. The organization publishes a magazine and already released 10 CD's with unique recordings. The most recent CD was a 1956 Count Basie concert in the Amsterdam Concert building.
