Postal worker caught with 13,000 pieces of undelivered mail dating back to 2012

A 25 year old postal worker in Eelde was caught with more than 13 thousand pieces of undelivered mail hidden in her home. The mail was supposed to be delivered between 2012 and August of this year to address in Eelde and Paterswolde. The postal service launched an internal investigation after an Eelde resident pressed charges because he did not receive important mail. The police were called in and discovered the 60 bags of undelivered mail. The postal worker was dismissed and the police drew up an official report against her, that will be handed to the Public Prosecutor once the investigation is complete. The pieces of mail were unopened and were handed over to the postal service to deliver to the recipients. The preliminary results of the police investigation seem to indicate that the woman had more work than she could handle and was unable to deliver all the letters.
