Energy bills to fall 50 euro next year

More than half of Dutch households can expect to pay an average of 50 euros less on their energy bills next year, due to a decrease on the variable energy rates. The variable price for gas is dropping an average of 5 percent, and for electricity between 3 and 6 percent, according to calculations by comparison website Pricewise, RTL Nieuws reports. This price decrease only applies to the about 60 percent of Dutch households with variable rates on their energy contracts. Over the past five years the price of electricity has dropped nearly 20 percent. Gas prices fell 33 percent in three years.
