Coffeeshop owners arrested on money laundering, drug possession charges

Two owners of a coffeeshop in Vianen were arrested on Friday, October 30th, after police received a tip off. The police then raided two houses in Utrecht and Vianen as well as the coffee shop where they seized two firearms, ammunition, a large amount of drugs, and an even larger amount of cash, reported the police website. The 53-year-old man from Vianen and the 50-year-old man from Utrecht have been arrested on suspition of money laundering, illegal firearm and ammunition possession as well as significantly more than the maximum allowed trading stock of drugs. The mayor of Vianen has, based on the findings of the police, made the decision to close to coffeeshop immediately for an indefinite period of time. Both men are being held in custody as police further their investigation.
