Dutch gov’t should buy up Air France-KLM shares, employers say

Employers organization VNO-NCW wants the government to buy Dutch shares in the Air France-KLM group. The employers organization fears that the Dutch network of direct connection will fall victim to the financial problems merged company is facing, especially if KLM needs to scrap extra lines. "France has around 20 percent of shares in the holding company, the Netherlands has 0 percent. We don't think that's right", VNO president Hans de Boer said to the Financieele Telegraaf. De Boer wants the Dutch government to maintain the same interest as the French government, amounting to an investment of 400 million euros. "This is similar to the division of ABN Amro. That too was infrastructure of the Dutch economy. This is also that important. This is management issues, Prime Minister Rutte should not leave it to three different ministries."
