Employers organizations MKB-Nederland and VNO-NCW want the Dutch privacy law to be extended so that employees in more professions can be tested for alcohol or drugs. They also want companies to be able to request more information from sick employees, ANP reports.

Currently only employees in certain professions - like pilots or train drivers - can be tested for alcohol and drugs. But according to the employers, making allowing this for more professions will make it possible for companies to better guarantee safety.

Tata Steel, the parent company of the steel plant in IJmuiden, and the German ThyssenKrupp are merging their European Steelworks. The two companies expect that the merge will result in the loss of 4 thousand jobs throughout Europe, they said in a joint statement, AD reports.

Half of the jobs will be lost in the production branch and the other half in the administrative branch. The job losses will be distributed evenly across the two companies. The consequences for jobs in the IJmuiden plant, were not specified.

Should the Netherlands decide to stick to its low banker's bonus limit, the country could lose out on 17 thousand extra jobs and 1 billion euros in income and corporation tax, says employers' organization VNO-NCW. According to the organization, dozens of small financial institutions and at least three major international banks would move from London to the Netherlands after the Brexit, if the bonus limit was not an obstacle, reports.

Exactly which financial institutions are involved, the VNO-NCW did not say.

The four largest cities in the Netherlands, united under G4, want the Dutch government to invest 35 billion euros into sustainability and infrastructure in the Randstad. The G4's plans span 15 years in which time some 1 million "green" homes will be built and accessibility to the city regions will be greatly improved, Het Parool reports.

The Netherlands could significantly decrease healthcare costs by using new technologies and being smarter about the organization of care, according to employers' organizations VNO-NCW and MKB-Nederland in a healthcare vision they have for the new government. According to the vision, the Netherlands can save at least 1.5 billion euros in healthcare costs per year, the Telegraaf reports.

Last year more women occupied top positions in businesses in the Netherlands, though they are still a minority compared to the men. In 2015 a quarter of the top positions were filled by women, according to the Emancipation Monitor published by the social and cultural planning office SCP and Statistics Netherlands on Tuesday.

In the government and healthcare there are an equal number of men and women working in high management. But the number of women in high positions is low compared to the number of women working in those two sector.
