Motorcycle gang suspected of torching Haarlem mayor’s car

The fire that reduced Haarlem Mayor Bernt Schneiders’ car to ash in June is being investigated by police who claim that they have evidence connecting the fire to motorcycle gangs. Several weeks before his car caught fire at a gas station, Schneiders made statements to the media welcoming a crackdown on motorcycle gangs and the arrest of Hell's Angels leader, Lysander de R. The police claim that they have evidence that links a series of motorcycle clubhouse fires in Noord-Holland to the incident involving the mayors’ car, a police representative confirmed to De Telegraaf. Two motorcycle clubhouses from rival gangs that were destroyed by fire earlier in February this year have both produced evidence of arson. De Telegraaf reported that De R. is behind the intimidation campaign against competing clubs. In 2014 the international motorcycle club Bandidos came to the Netherlands and have since been battling with the Hells Angels, leading to shootings, bombings and arson.
