Money troubles mount at A-Film, largest Benelux movie distributor

A-Film, one of the largest independent Benelux movie distributors, requested deferral of payment on Monday. The company is facing difficult market conditions and has a heavy debt burden. The next few days should reveal whether A-Film's money troubles will turn into bankruptcy or whether a restart can be achieved, NU reports. A spokesperson for the company confirmed to the newspaper that upcoming movie titles have been placed "on hold". Movies currently showing in cinemas, such as De Reunie, Apenstreken, Miciel de Ruyter and De Surprise will keep showing as planned. The company's website is also currently offline.
