Mocked King’s song cost half a million to produce
The widely mocked King's song which was made for the inauguration of King Willem-Alexander cost a massive 550 thousand euros to produce.
This is according to the National Committee Inauguration's financial statement, which is in the hands of the Telegraaf.
According to the newspaper, the statement shows that 400 thousand euros were issued for the production of the song "from the people" to the new king. Add to that the 150 thousand that NPO set aside for the song, the song ended up costing 150 thousand euros.
This means the song cost 1,786 euros per second, making it the most expensive song in Dutch music history.
This money did not go to the 51 artists involved in making the song. The money was donated to charity - the Oranjefonds. Composer John Ewbank had no idea how much money was spent on the song. "I also didn't send an invoice for my work or the use of the studio", he said to the Telegraaf.
