Scooter riders jump and beat young man after night out in Eindhoven

A 19 year old man was severely assaulted on Emmasingel in Eindhoven early on Sunday morning. He was attacked by two men on a scooter, who kicked and beat him several times, also in his face. The victim was taken to the hospital with serious head injuries. According to the police, the assault happened around 5:00 a.m. The two men fled on the scooter after the attack. Bystanders helped the victim and called the police. A short time later the police received a report of an accident between a scooter and a cyclist on the bridge at Statumseind. The police believe that the 18 year old scooter driver is the same man involved in the assault. He was arrested and is in custody for questioning. The police are still looking for the second suspect and for witnesses of the assault. The victim is still in the hospital. He is conscious, but given his condition, has not been questioned yet. According to the police, the young man suffered multiple fractures in his face in the assault. The motive of the attack is still unclear.
