Fake cocaine dealer remanded into custody

The suspect in the white heroin sold as cocaine case will remain in custody, the court decided after a so-called pro forma session on Thursday. The Amsterdam dealer allegedly sold white heroin as cocaine to tourists in the capital for months. Three tourists died and dozens became ill after sniffing the very dangerous drugs. The police searched for this dealer for months. Flip S. eventually turned himself in after recognizing himself in the photos and video broadcast on Opsoring Verzocht. This happened on April 4th. He was released from custody about two weeks later, as the court determined that there was not enough evidence to keep him. On May 7th he was remanded back into custody. During the pro-forma session on Thursday, the Public Prosecutor read the charges against S., BNR reports. The 47 year old man is now suspected of involvement in 15 cases of bad drugs being sold, including with the three deceased British tourists. He was initially only suspected of one case, in which three Danish tourists were injured. A report by the Netherlands Forensic Institute found that the white heroin used in the case with the British tourists was identical to the white heroin sold to the Danes. The Public Prosecutor believes that S. knew exactly what he was doing - that he deliberately sold white heroin as cocaine. The charges now also includes murder. According to the Prosecutor, murder is a valid charge because there is signs of intent, premeditation. And because he sold a deadly substance. S. claims that he was only involved in one case, the one where he was caught on camera selling white heroin to the three Danish tourists. He says he had nothing to do with the others. He also claims not to have known that the drugs were in fact white heroin. Gerald Roethof, the lawyer representing S., told the court that there are several points proving that his client can not be the real white heroin dealer. One of these points is that when the 15 thousand reward for the golden tip was initially offered, the description included that the man looked like a "rasta". "My client never had dreadlocks. In this sense he does not meet the description", the lawyer said. "As the court rightly said today: we have to wait and see how this case plays out."
