Eight-year-old asylum seeker's death re-examined
The Healthcare Inspectorate is re-examining the events and circumstances surrounding the deportation and death of Georgian girl Renata Agamiryan, Brandpunt reports. The 8 year old asylum seeker died in October 2014 at the Leiden University Medical Center from the effects of Leukemia.
In 2012 the Netherlands deported the already very sick girl and her family to Poland. When she got there, Polish doctors immediately diagnosed Renata with acute leukemia. The disease was never discovered in the Netherlands, despite repeated requests from Renata's parents for medical care for their daughter.
In a previous investigation the Inspectorate concluded that no errors were made in Renata's care.
