Amsterdam ranks 5th safest city in the world

Amsterdam ranked as the fifth safest city in the world on The Economist's Safe Cities Index 2015 report. Every city in the index is scored across four different categories: health security, digital security, infrastructure safety and personal safety. Tokyo, Singapore, Osaka and Stockholm are the only cities in front of Amsterdam on the report. The Dutch capital did not rank first in any of the categories measured on the report, where as Zurich has the best health security and the safest infrastructure. Tokyo however wins the title of best digital safety and Singapore's personal safety is on top of the world. Despite the recent doubling of electric vehicle usage in Amsterdam, the city could not make it to the top six of cleanest capital cities in the world when it comes to air quality. However, when talking about water quality, Amsterdam is on top of the chart of the cleanest capitals in the world. Ironically, Amsterdam ranked as the least safe city in the Netherlands on AD's Crime Meter earlier in May. Maastricht took the second place on the list, leaving Rotterdam to be the third least safe city in the country.
