Austrian pol: Germany spied on Netherlands internet communications

An Austrian politician has accused the German secret service and telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom of intercepting internet traffic to the Netherlands, among others. According to the German newspaper Der Spiegel, emails from Austrian politician Peter Pilz state that this internet traffic has been spied on since 2005. He discovered this in his own investigation. American secret service NSA may be behind the espionage as the information was also shared with the US secret service. Countries that were spied on include the Netherlands, France, Austria and Luxembourg, RTL reports. All connections that were spied on went through the internet hub De-Cix which is located in Frankfurt. De-Cix is one of the world's largest hubs. Pilz will make more information known during a press conference in Berlin on Tuesday.
