Utrecht hospital gives patients full instant access to health records

From today patients of the University Medical Center Utrecht will have direct access to their entire patient record, NU reports. Patients will be able to instantly view their test results, reports and photos without having to wait for a doctor consultation. The UMC Utrecht is the first hospital to offer this possibility The hospital wants to make the relationship between doctor and patient more equal and consultations more efficient by sharing information without delay. Up until now test results were only revealed in a doctor consultation. There was also a delay of between a few days and a few weeks before information was available in a patient's electronic file.
