Credit cards lifted from stolen mailbags in elaborate theft

Police officers arrested a 42 year old man on Tuesday. He is suspected of stealing mailbags to get credit cards. The police launched an investigation after receiving several reports of false charges on credit cards. The investigation showed that the man got these credit cards from mailbags that he stole specifically for that purpose. Between June 2013 and December 2014, the man had gotten hold of at least 7 credit cards in this manner. After identifying the suspect, the police had a hard time tracking him down as he has no fixed address. Undercover officers eventually found him in the Holland Spoor train station in The Hague. He was arrested and interrogated. The police searched the house where the suspect is staying and found a lot of post, including several empty envelopes in which credit cards were sent. The police are working with several credit card companies to figure out if other missing cards were used by this suspect. The suspect used the credit cards at ATM's, in stores and to pay online stores. He ran up an amount of at least 17 thousand euros, but the police suspect that the amount will get higher.
