Organic food exports jump 11 percent

Dutch exports of organic agricultural products rose to 928 million euros in 2014. That is an increase of 11 percent compared to 2013. State Secretary Dijksma of Economic Affairs presented the figures today. "Other countries enjoy our organic carrots, tomatoes, cheese, eggs and grains. So the organic export turnover grew with 100 million euros. And that's not for nothing. Consumers want more and more products with a focus on animal welfare, nature and the environment. A good, green development and our companies can meet that demand, because quality is growing in the Netherlands!" Dijksma said. Neighboring countries remain the major markets for Dutch exports of organic products. Germany is the Netherlands' best customer with a revenue share of more than 40 percent. After Germany, Belgium, France, Scandinavia and the United Kingdom is the main export countries. Exports to the United States and Asia is also increasing.
