New €100m sustainable school proposal pitched

The government must put 100 million euro into making schools and homes more energy efficient. The D66 wants to take this amount from the 600 million euro that Minister Lodewijk Asscher of Social Affairs has reserved for his job plans. The D66 has no confidence that Asscher's plans will really lead to additional jobs. D66 leader Alexander Pechtold thinks it makes more sense to use that money to improve 7 thousand outdated primary schools. Old energy hungry homes can also be demolished and replaced by sustainable homes. According to the D66, the investment will lead to 7 thousand jobs in construction and in home insulation. It will also put children in better schools and drop many energy bills. Pechtold made this proposal yesterday during a debate with Prime Minister Mark Rutte on the climate and energy policy.
