Ada S- Convicted of killing her second husband

Ada S. has been found guilty of murdering her second husband, a court in Leeuwarden, Friesland ruled today. She was immediately sentenced to serve twenty years in prison. The 52-year-old woman from Vortum-Mullem in Brabant was initially on trial for murdering both her deceased husbands, but acquitted on charges of the first death, due to lack of evidence. Ada stood accused of intentionally poisoning her second husband, who died in August 2012. She was also charged with deliberately neglecting to call for emergency assistance when her first husband fell ill. There is no substantial evidence of her administering the poison, but an investigation into her internet search history yielded evidence that she was researching numerous poisons and the effects thereof shortly before the death of her second husband. The man was perfectly healthy, had an aversion to medicine, yet both medicine and poisonous substances were discovered in his body. The court also heard evidence that she falsified life insurance documents for a policy that was taken out shortly before his death. The family has reportedly said they suspected her of playing a role in his death as she did not seem to mourn his passing, and appeared very eager to settle the financial matters. Ada S. has also been found guilty of arson, as the court ruled she set her third husband's house in Sambeek, Noord Brabant on fire last year. The suspect's lawyer, Miriam Skinner has expressed disappointment at the verdict. "It stands to reason that we will appeal the sentence," Skinner said. "Ada S was not present the day of ruling; I suspect this is due to her emotional devastation."
