KLM to give more legroom in Economy on 777s

There is good news for passengers flying economy class - KLM will soon be using a new, better and more spacious chair. The lack of legroom in a plane is an annoyance for many travelers. While the average height of people in the Netherlands is increasing, the space in economy class is becoming increasingly smaller. KLM is going to solve that problem, report sources within the airline. From next year, passengers traveling with the Boeing 777-200 will be sitting on a new chair. One that is more comfortable and offers more leg room. This chair is the CL3710 from German manufacturer Recaro. The producer focused on "maximum living space and comfort". The chair has an unique, ergonomic headrest that can be adjusted in 6 ways. It offers maximum support and can tilt horizontally if you want to sleep. The new chair offers more knee- and legroom, even if the airline places the chairs close to each other. "The chair offers more space at the widest part of the body, the hips. And because the magazine box is set higher an opening for the knees is made, you have more space." reports a KLM employee who is closely involved in the introduction of the new seats. "The armrests are tapered so they pinch less against the legs." KLM will be busy with the conversion until end 2015.
