Six hospitals partner up in cancer fight

According to the six clinical hospitals that together perform the most cancer treatments in the Netherlands, the cancer care in our country could be better. They are therefore teaming up to improve health care when it comes to breast, prostate, lung and colon cancer. "These hospitals, united under the name Santeon, take an extra step on top of all the general standards and guidelines of professional- and patient organizations and health insurers." says breast cancer surgeon Yvonne van Riet of the Catharina Hospital in Eindhoven. "We have already started to look to each other to see who does better when it comes to breast cancer and have taken that over from each other, leading to expansion of the medical teams." The other hospitals involved are the Martini Hospital in Groningen, Medisch Spectrum Twente in Eschede, Onze Lieve Vrouwe Gasthuis in Amsterdam, Canisius-Wilhelimina Hospital in Nijmegen, and the St Antonius Hospital in Utrecht.
