VVD drops own car tax plan
Secretary of State Eric Wiebes' plan to make lease drivers pay more tax, is on its way to the trash.
Wiebe's own fraction in the Second Chamber, the VVD, is demanding that the proposal be taken off the table. "We will not do it," Chamber member Neppérus promises. She believes that State Secretary Wiebes turned a deaf ear to the criticism from her party.
The car industry has already turned against the proposal, in which virtually all new contracts for leased cars would fall into the highest additional tax rate of 25 percent in 2016.
The Second Chamber is discussing Wiebes' plan today.
