Train conductors overworked: union

The main conductors on trains in the Netherlands are overworked. According to union VVMC for driving staff, the services that they need to run have become very intensive. The workload and the responsibility are too large. The main problem, according to the union, is the short amount of time they get to arrive at the next train. The walking distances are long and the times between two services too short. They no longer even have time to visit the bathroom, says VVMC. The union says that the NS always puts the traveler first and that the Utrecht railway company and its employees are forgotten. The emphasis is always on savings and extreme efficiency.
