Gay newspaper tries seizing MP's homes; MP denies corruption

Amsterdam lawyer Oscar Hammerstein has seized the two houses of the 50Plus front man Henk Krol. Hammerstein acts on behalf of the Stichting Vrienden van de Gaykrant (SVG). Krol owns two homes, one in Amsterdam and one in Eindhoven. The house in Eindhoven is now for sale for 860 thousand euro. Krol's ex partner is currently living in the Amsterdam house. Henk Krol was the chairman of the SVG for many years until he resigned in February 2013. The seizure shows that Krol used subsidy money intended for gay rights for political party 50Plus. An invoice is attached to the court documents for the cost of the party's website. Hammerstein desribed Krol's conduct as "fraud" and "absconding". The SVG has to pay more than two ton of subsidy money back to the Ministry of Education. The Ministry wants the money back because the subsidy was not spent correctly. The SVG, then still headed bye Krol, received a subsidy for a "digital meeting place" for young homosexuals, but the money was never used for that. Krol used it to pay other issues, EenVandaag reports. Between 2008 and 2011 the Ministry of Education gave the SVG nearly 300 thousand euro in subsidies. Henk Krol refutes the accusation that he used subsidy money for 50Plus. "Absolutely not true," said Krol, "Let them first see if something went wrong and if I was involved." 50Plus also dispute the claims that Hen Krol channeled subsidy money into the 50Plus website. "This is a great campaign to bring 50Plus and Henk Krol to floor," said senator John Nagel, "That is not going to happen. It is nut true. 50Plus paid the money for the website itself."
