ISIS advance will be halted in one year: Dutch ministers

The Dutch contribution to the fight against the terrorist organization Islamic State (ISIS) will stop when ISIS's advance has been halted. The Cabinet expects this to take a maximum of 12 months. Ministers Jeanine Hennis Plasschaert (Defense, VVD) and Frans Timermans (Foreign Affairs, PvdA) wrote a letter to the Second Chamber on Wednesday regarding whether the government should be aware that the mission in Iraq could take longer than expected. "The Dutch contribution will end if the rise of ISIS is stopped and the struggle can be continued by other means or after an agreed upon period of time, after which redemption must be made by a partner. This is based on a period of twelve months." the ministers wrote. The mission will last a maximum of twelve months, but may be extended if the ISIS advance has not been stopped.
