Facebook, Spotify investor puts €10m in Dutch site Catawiki

The American investment house Accel Partners has invested 10 million euro into Dutch auction company Catawiki. Accel Partners also invests in companies such as Facebook, Spotify and Dropbox. This is the first Dutch company in which they have invested. According to Catawiki, Berlin investors Project A ventures and Dutch lenders Arthur Kostenen Willem Sijtfhoff also contributed to the financing round. Catawaki provides an auction platform for particular objects, such as antique weapons and rare stamps. The company was founded by René Schoenmakers and Marco Jansen in 2008 as a community for collectors. The company also has an office in Amsterdam and is active in Belgium, Germany and France.
