Dutch drivers rack up fewer traffic tickets
A total of 2,840,942 traffic fines were issued in the months of May, June, July and August.
That is 582 thousand fewer fines than the same period last year. Speeding is by far the most committed traffic violation. Other violations include illegal parking, running a red light, not wearing a seat belt or helmet and not using a hands free kit while driving.
The decreased number of traffic fines can partly be explained by absent trajectory control systems in various parts of the country, which are being replaced. Speed cameras are also in the progress of being replaced.
