Dutch exports grow thanks to earlier imports

The volume of exports in June 2014 increased by 4.1 percent over June 2013, the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) has reported. The bureau said in a statement today that this was mostly due to transshipment of goods through the Netherlands. The entire Dutch export sector grew because of re-export, the export of previously imported good. The export of Dutch products hardly saw any growth, CBS said. “Especially the export of machines, equipment and metal products rose in comparison to last year.” CBSsaid that in contrast imports also saw growth. “The volume of imports in July was 7.5 percent larger than the year before. In June the import grew as well, but that growth had 1.7 less strength.”
