Over half of Dutch homes own a tablet

According to Telecompaper's Dutch Tablet Users Q2 2014 report, around 4.2 million Dutch households are now using tablets. 56 percent of households had at least one tablet in their homes in the second quarter of 2014, Telecompaper reports. As the majority of Dutch households already own a tablet, growth in the tablet market is slowing in this region. Fewer people plan to purchase a tablet in the coming months, according to the report. The report indicates that tablet penetration is increasing across all age groups. 50 percent of Dutch 65 - 80 year old people own a tablet. Apple's iPad is the most popular tablet in the Dutch market, but Samsung's share has been growing. Consumers indicated that when choosing a tablet, price and brand are their main considerations. The most popular activities done on tablets are playing games and browsing the internet. Tablets are used an average of nine and a half hours per week. The figures for this report come from a survey done by Telecompaper Consumer Panel during the second quarter of the year. The survey consisted of 6 600 Dutch consumers aged 12 - 80 years.
