Busiest day of year for Schiphol

Roughly 190,000 passengers will travel through Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport on Friday, making it the busiest travel day of the year. The total number of people arriving and departing from Schiphol is up by 10,000 over last year’s busiest day. Passengers flying from the airport are advised to give themselves extra time for checking in and clearing passport control. The airport authority wants as many passengers as possible to check in before going to Schiphol. To handle the increase, office workers are temporarily reassigned to act as hosts guiding passengers through the airport. An extra 500 staff will assist the influx of travellers. The increase could be due to an economic recovery, one airport official speculated to broadcaster RTV NH.
