herman de vries to rep NL in Venice

Acclaimed artist herman de vries has been chosen to represent the Netherlands at the Venice Biennale in 2015. His 1974 work, ‘to be all ways to be’, curated by Colin Huizing and Cees de Boer, was chosen by the jury over four other Dutch entries. Since 1995, the Mondriaan Foundation has been responsible for selecting the Dutch entry at the contemporary art exhibition, appointing a curator for each work of art. A release issued by the foundation states that their decision was based upon the quality of the artist, his body of work and the relevance of the proposal. "The jury is fascinated by the commitment of the piece and believes that it is within the spectacle of the Biennale,” said the Mondriaan Fund in a statement. The 56th Venice Biennale will take place from May 9 to November 22, 2015.
