Remains of missing men found eight years later

Authorities have discovered the remains of Karim Fourkour and Fouad Bendella, two Moroccan men who disappeared eight years ago, buried in a grave in the wooded area of Arcen.

Fourkour, then 21 and Bendella who was 23 years old, vanished in 2006. Police had suspected Lau G. and Geert G., but could not make the case stick because there was not enough evidence. Suspicions were that the two men had caught Fourkour and Bendella emptying their marijuana plantation and killed them.

But apparently Lau G. talked; reports are that he admitted to a fellow inmate he shared a cell in Germany with, that he personally killed the two young men. News of the prison brag prompted police to take Lau (51) and Geert G. into custody on April 26 for the third time.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Limburg reported today that police had also returned to Arcen, to search the woods there again for the bodies. An archeologist and the national forensic institute helped and X-Ray and heavy equipment was used for a thorough search, which led to the graves in which the remains of the two young men were found.

“Based on the dental analysis, there is 100 % certainty that these bodies are those of Karim Fourkour and Fouad Bendella. Our thoughts go out to their relatives; we hope that the find of their bodies will help the mourning process,” the Prosecutor’s Office wrote.
