Dozens of WWII grenades found in field
A field in Winssen was found to be full of grenades from the Second World War. The farmer who was working the land was surprised when he came upon some of the weapons in his plough.
The Explosives Ordnance Disposal service was called to help. They decided to inspect the entire field as there was a chance that more grenades would be spread throughout the earth. In the end, the police reports that dozens of grenades were found.
The spokesperson for the police says that it is not clear whether they were buried in the soil or left there, nor is it clear who did it.
Winssen is located on the Waal, to the West of Nijmegen. This area saw a lot of fighting towards the end of the Second World War.
