Police dog finds €2.5 million in home

A so-called money dog of the police found €2.5 million in a home in Nieuwegein on Monday. The fortune was hidden by a 36-year old suspect in a secret compartment behind the headboard of the bed. The raid was performed by a team of the Fiscal Information and Investigation Service (FIOD) and the police on monday, and revealed loaded fire arms, two expensive watches and a money-counting machine. Investigations into a business building belonging to the suspect, located elsewhere in Nieuwegein, led to the discovery of five kilos of cocaine. The man has been placed in custody for 14 days by the examining judge in Utrecht.
