Around 5000 reports against Wilders
The Public Prosecution Authority (OM) has received around 5000 reports against politician Geert Wilders so far. Via the police website, 15,000 reports of discrimination came in as well, the OM announced Thursday.
The reports were filed in connection to comments the PVV-leader made against Moroccans in the country on election night on the 19th of March. He asked the crowd of PVV-supporters if they want more or fewer Moroccans in the city. The crowd chanted back "fewer, fewer, fewer." Wilders replied that he would arrange that.
Since that comment, mass appeals to report Wilders for discrimination have dominated social media, with politicians taking distance and several municipalities even descending on police stations en masse to file reports.
Those people who have filed reports against Wilders, will be notified of the receipt as well as consequences of their report. "This takes more time than usual", the OM explains. The police unit in The Hague coordinates the stream of reports.
