Mom dead, son hurt in fight with dad

A woman from Oosterhout near Breda died this morning after a fight with her partner. The partner has been arrested.

A police spokesperson said the woman was brought into the St. Elisabeth Hospital in Tilburg around 8.00am, with serious injuries she probably sustained during a fight at home with her partner. The 42-year-old domestic violence victim passed away shortly after she had been brought in. Police say a "weapon" was used, but it was not a firearm. The woman's partner (41) had also sustained injuries, for which he was treated at another hospital in Breda. He remained there in police custody. The 10-year-old son of the couple was slightly wounded during the incident. The boy was taken in by neighbors. Mayor Stefan Huisman of Oosterhout went to the couple's home at Rubenshof this morning to personally take in the situation. He also visited the nearby primary school. Police say many children of the school may have witnessed emergency services and the other activities at the house.
