Intentional gas leak evacuates neighborhood; one arrested

A 34-year-old man was arrested in the Spijkerstraat in Bussum, Thursday morning, after he intentionally released gas, filling his home and the neighborhood with the vapor. A bailiff who pulled up to the home around 9:15 this morning to evict the man, smelled the gas and alarmed the police. Neighbors think the man, who has lived in the home his entire life, may have panicked when he saw a truck with a container pull up to his home. He reportedly lost his mother about 4 year ago, his father even longer, and has had a rough time since. An assault team took action around 10:45 and arrested the occupant, who was taken to the hospital because of gas inhalation, according to a police spokesperson. After the arrest it still took a while before neighbors were allowed back into their homes. Many complained, because they felt they were left standing, without any information, while emergency responders were being supplied with lunches. Shortly after a City spokesperson informed them of the status the Spijkerstraat was opened back up around 12:30. In another incident involving a bailiff, this morning in Rijswijk, an occupant fired a shot, lightly injuring a police officer. https://twitter.com/Joordoetverslag/status/446603524622020608
