Unmanned truck rams Gelderland townhall
A truck slammed into the town hall building in the town of Groesbeek this morning, injuring eight people, one of whom is in serious condition.
De Gelderlander newspaper reports that the truck spontaneously started rolling down the Dorps Straat unmanned, rammed a couple of cars along the way and then plowed into the town hall building that is located at the lowest end of the street. It appeared to have taken aim at the office of the VVV (tourism department) in the front of the building; there was one person inside when the truck came crashing, but he escaped unharmed. Two seriously injured people were transported to a hospital; it was not clear when and where they were injured.
Where the VVD office was located was left as a gaping hole; the rest of the building was reopened to the public after the truck was removed. The street was also closed off for a while.
