Train derails in Hilversum, no injuries
A passenger train, carrying 550 passengers derailed just outside Hilversum, just before 16:00. The Intercity toward Naarden-Bussum derailed shortly after departure from Hilversum, according to a police spokesperson.
Other than one passenger complaining about a painful knee, and another with pain in the back, no injuries have been reported, according to a police Tweet.
The passengers had to stay on board after the train derailed, because electricity was still running through the overhead lines. Train traffic between Hilversum and Naarden-Bussum has come to a complete halt due to the derailment. Passengers will have to travel by bus, but will be delayed at least an hour. Train traffic is expected to be back to normal in the course of the night.
Travelers from Utrecht to Almere will need to do so by Amsterdam Zuid. Travelers from Amersfoort to Amsterdam Centraal or Schiphol will have to detour by Utrecht Centraal.
