Greenpeace activists may get visas within two days

The Greenpeace activists who received amnesty in Russia are expected to get their visas on Thursday or Friday, Greenpeace Russia said on Twitter on Wednesday. Greenpeace Ship / Flickr Russia yesterday officially dropped criminal charges against Greenpeace activists arrested in a protest over Arctic oil drilling. The activists are free now and can go to home. But all travel formalities, including visas, have to be arranged, the Volkskrant reports citing Reuters. In September, Russia arrested 30 activists who were protesting against oil drilling in the Arctic. Two Dutch activists, including Faiza Oulahsen and Mannes Ubels, were received amnesty on Wednesday and they can now return home after some formal procedures. Over the last three months, Russia faced criticism from Western countries and celebrities for arresting the activists.
