DJ Nicky Romero Blows Away Audience

Worldwide top 10 DJ and record label owner Nicky Romero gave an amazing free show for a small crowd of just under 100 fans in a pop-up MTV Mobile store Friday Night. The concert was promoted as part of the MTV Music Week, a series of performances around Amsterdam in the run-up to the MTV EMA awards show. The show ended with an epic mash-up of "Internet Friends" and "We Are Your Friends," and Nicky Romero thanked everybody for the unique experience. After the show he said, “It was great!” impressed with the atmosphere in the packed store. Tickets to this showcase could be picked up by fans in that same store the same morning, attracting many young people who normally might not be able to afford his shows. He is also looking forward to working with top Dutch pop singer Anouk. Their management have been in touch, but they just have not yet decided how to combine their different music styles. The Dutch DJ came up short in voting for 2013 Best Dutch Act at the MTV EMA, losing out to Kensington last week. When asked about his award nomination, Romero said "I’m very, very happy, and that’s all I can say about it." He later joked the band he least minded losing was Kensington. Afrojack, Armin van Buuren, and Nielson were also competing for the award. The 2013 MTV EMA is set to kick-off Sunday night in Amsterdam at the Ziggo Dome.
