Another Gold For Kromowidjojo

At the final day of the world cup events in Doha, Ranomi Kromowidjojo won the 100 meter freestyle and so won her second gold medal during the events. The Olympian champion, who won a day earlier already the 50 meter freestyle, was too quick for her competitors. She leaded the race from the start and ended with 52.29 seconds. This time is about one second slower than the world record of 4 years ago, but that was achieved with the now forbidden polyurethane swimming suit. Second was Femke Heemskerk, the Dutch who won a silver medal a day earlier, with 52.71 seconds. Danish Ottesen Gray was third with 53.00 seconds. Inge Dekker, who twice missed the bronze medal on seconds on Sunday, was again bad luck on the 50 meter freestyle which she ended as fourth. Fortunately on Monday, she could translate her efforts into a Bronze medal at the 50 meter butterfly. Monique Nijhuis, who also missed a Bronze medal on Sunday with 0.04 seconds, was also successful on Monday and won the Bronze medal for the 50 meter breaststroke.
