Functionally naked in sex cinema

Vulnerable or shameless? 'Nude' is this year's main theme of the Dutch Film Festival (NFF) that starts Wednesday night in Utrecht. From the liberating sex wave in the seventies to the beauty and fragility of artistic nude.High-profile and taboo-breaking classics like Blue Movie, Turks Fruit (Turkish Delight) and Spetters shine again on the big screen. And the last sex cinema of Utrecht, Davy's Erotheek, opens its doors to the compilation Ohlala, where the beauty and fragility of the naked body are central. Additionally the NFF brings a tribute to actress Sylvia Kristel, who passed away in October 2012 . The actress, who originates from Utrecht, would have turned 61 this year. Naturally, the soft-erotic classic Emmanuelle, with which she broke through internationally, is on the program. Also featuring are Wim Verstappens Pastorale 1943 and Pim de la Parra's Frank & Eva: Living Apart Together. There are also photos and art from her own hand on display in cinema 't Hoogt. A historical drama based on the novel by Cynthia McLeod, about two young slaves in Suriname. Incidentally, with much nudity, because the slaves on the plantations in Suriname were naked from the waist up. The festival, from September 25 / October 4, features 319 films. 79 of which are premieres and 88 films compete for the Golden Calves. The jury, consisting of general president Emile Fallaux, actresses Thekla Reuten and Maryam Hassouni, and documentary maker Michiel van Erp, may award 19 Golden Calves . In addition, two calves for the Culture prize and the Audience prize are granted by the NFF board and the public. The Culture Prize was awarded to film publicist Monique Schendelen on opening night Wednesday. The other Golden Calves are awarded on the final night in the Utrecht City Theatre. The 'Guest of the Year' is director Paula van der Oest. She is honored with various events and a special survey of films from her career. On Thursday the Zusjes series premieres on the NFF, which include a supporting role for the in December deceased actor Jeroen Willems. It was his last role.
