New Technological Institution Amsterdam

The TU Delft and Wageningen University will set up a new technological institute in Amsterdam together.In early April, the city of Amsterdam wrote a competition among research institutions and universities at home and abroad for a new institute for applied technology. This afternoon, the jury, led by scientist Robbert Dijkgraaf, announced that Wageningen and Delft are the winners of this contest. Alderman Carolien Gehrels hopes this competition will attract new businesses and new talent to the city in the areas of water, energy, waste, food and IT. Delft has extensive knowledge in the field of water, Wageningen in the field of green and sustainability. Along with the experience of the American Institute, Jury chairman Dijkgraaf thinks their plan is best suited for the future of Amsterdam. The winning universities are happy their plan is preferred. In the coming weeks, they will already discuss the implementation of the plan. 20 to 50 million euros are available for construction. The outcome of the match is a setback for the Amsterdam University of Amsterdam, the VU and the University of Amsterdam, who had also filed a joint plan.
