Six Premier League Players Join NL Squad

Premier league players Marco van Ginkel, Michel Vorm, Ron Vlaar, Jonathan de Guzman, Ricky van Wolfswinkel, and Robin van Persie may well play Portugal a few days ahead of the latest season. Van Gaal’s group already omitted Fulham goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg and Everton defender John Heitinga. Tim Krul of Newcastle has been pulled out because of health concerns. Meanwhile, Augsburg defender Paul Verhaegh will take part in the international for the first time and will possibly be introduced with the Oranje on August 14. Youth players Adam Maher and Tonny Vilhena were already asked to participate. Ex-captain Wesley Sneijder has already been left out due to injury problems. Complete list of the members of the Netherlands squad: Goalkeepers: Kenneth Vermeer (Ajax), Michel Vorm (Swansea), and Jasper Cillessen (Ajax). Defenders: Daley Blind (Ajax), Ron Vlaar (Aston Villa), Daryl Janmaat (Feyenoord), Bruno Martins Indi (Feyenoord), Joris Mathijsen (Feyenoord), Ricardo van Rhijn (Ajax), Paul Verhaegh (Augsburg), and Stefan de Vrij (Feyenoord). Midfielders: Jordy Clasie (Feyenoord), Marco van Ginkel (Chelsea), Jonathan de Guzman (Swansea), Adam Maher (PSV), Kevin Strootman (Roma), Rafael van der Vaart (Hamburg), Siem de Jong (Ajax), Tonny Vilhena (Ajax), and Tonny Vilhena (Feyenoord). Attackers: Jeremain Lens (Dynamo Kiev), Dirk Kuyt (Fenerbahce), Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (Schalke), Robin van Persie (Manchester United), Arjen Robben (Bayern Munich), Ruben Schaken (Feyenoord), and Ricky van Wolfswinkel (Norwich).
