Cinema Fight in Almere

Last weekend the father of a 15-year-old abused a cinema manager in Almere after his son was denied access to a movie meant for people aged 16 and older. The manager of the Utopolis cinema suffered injuries on his face and hands after the father hit him. Parool.nl reports that the police later arrested the man. If cinemas do not follow the advice of the Dutch motion picture rating system for suitability for audiences, Kijkwijzer, they risk fines of tens of thousands of euros. According to a representative of Utopolis, this is not the first time an incident like this has happened. "Our employees are faced with people who do not accept the Kijkwijzer advice on a regular basis. Normally, a confrontation ends up only in an argument, but sometimes physical abuse is involved."
