Video: naked man detained after walking through busy Tilburg intersection

A naked man caused a disturbance Thursday night in Tilburg when he was seen walking along a busy intersection on Ringbaan-West, close to the Westpoint building. Police responded quickly with several units, detained him, and transported him to the station.

Onlookers reacted with surprise, while passing drivers sounded their horns as the man kept walking in the direction of Kwaadeindstraat. Witnesses told Hart van Nederland that the man appeared unhurried and was walking slowly along both the pavement and the road.

Public nudity in a street or other public space is covered by Article 430a of the Dutch Criminal Code. Exceptions apply only in designated nude recreation areas, and violations typically result in a fine of roughly 380 to 400 euros.

No details were released about his identity, what caused his behaviour, or his condition. Police are still investigating the events.

Ringbaan-West is among the busiest roads in Tilburg. The junction near Westpoint, the city’s tallest apartment building, is a complicated intersection with multiple lanes and a fairly high speed limit.

In busy urban areas like around Westpoint, reports of people behaving erratically sometimes occur, as is also seen in other densely populated city environments.
