A 28-year-old motorcyclist from Luyksgestel was critically injured Wednesday evening in a hit-and-run crash on the A2 near Eindhoven, and police continued searching Thursday for the driver who fled the scene.
According to Omroep Brabant, the crash occurred around 9:15 p.m. when the motorcyclist was struck by a car. He slid about 200 meters along the roadway. His motorcycle came to a stop roughly 100 meters farther ahead against a guardrail.
A trauma helicopter was deployed to the scene, forcing authorities to close the southbound A2 for about 90 minutes between Best and the Batadorp interchange. The victim was transported to a trauma center in Tilburg.
The driver involved in the crash fled. Police conducted an investigation at the scene and, according to a photographer present, launched a large-scale search.
